One myth I come across often is the idea that people around the time of the Middle Ages thought that the earth was flat. It appears to have some connection to another myth about Christopher Columbus being one of the few people to think that the earth was actually round and wanting to prove this he went on a journey to India around what other people thought was the edge of the world. People have however known that the earth is round for quite some time, it’s easily found out by watching ships appear at the horizon where the top of the mast appears before the rest of the ship.
